Dr. Kavita Patel is the Chief of Radiology at Lenox Health Greenwich Village in downtown Manhattan. She provides clinical leadership, operational guidance, and quality oversight of all imaging performed at LHGV. She is also responsible for integrating imaging services into the developing Northwell downtown Manhattan region. She assumed this role after 8 years in private practice, including as Director of Breast Imaging at the largest private radiology practice in Staten Island.

She completed her training in Breast Imaging at Columbia University Medical Center and in Orthopedic Imaging at Duke University Medical Center following undergraduate studies at Yale University. She is a thought leader in the nascent field of transgender radiology and has been invited to speak on the emerging role of the radiologist in transgender medicine at national society meetings and academic medical institutions. She was born and raised in New York City and has lived and worked in all five boroughs.

Her professional interests include: 

(1) Identification of opportunities for shared-decision making between radiologists and their patients.

(2) Increasing healthcare equity by strategically decreasing barriers to medical imaging access.

(3) Advancing recognition of the gender identity spectrum through scientific validation.
